Erin Sullivan, Fauna Series, Feather Stool, USA, 2015
Hundreds of feathers were molded and sculpted to createย Feather Stool,ย a work that is at once a functional object and a unique free-standing sculpture. The density of the workโs material elegantly contrasts with the lightness of the delicate feather forms.
The work expresses ideas of time and memory, constant themes inย Sullivanโs repertoire. In both theย Flora Seriesย andย Fauna Series, Sullivan immortalizes the intricacies and delicacy within the natural world in cast bronze, a durable material capable of surviving many several millennia. The artist crafts an aesthetic equilibriumย between life and death, nature and artifact, and art and design.
As Sullivan works on a commission basis, custom dimensionality and finishes may be accommodated.
