Hundreds of feathers were molded and sculpted to create Feather Stool, a work that is at once a functional object and a unique free-standing sculpture. The density of the work’s material elegantly contrasts with the lightness of the delicate feather forms.

The work expresses ideas of time and memory, constant themes in Sullivan’s repertoire. In both the Flora Series and Fauna Series, Sullivan immortalizes the intricacies and delicacy within the natural world in cast bronze, a durable material capable of surviving many several millennia. The artist crafts an aesthetic equilibrium between life and death, nature and artifact, and art and design.

As Sullivan works on a commission basis, custom dimensionality and finishes may be accommodated.
