Erin Sullivan, Sun and Moon, USA, 2016
In Sun and Moon, Sullivan places a gold bronzeย castย of lava rock above a silvered bronze cast of gentle folds of sand to represent a metaphorical โsunโ rising over a โmoon.โ A curtain of horsehair dramatically descends from the base of the monumental bronze relief and embedded LED lights emit a warm glow. Sun and Moon draws inspiration from theย ancient Norse gods of Sol (sun) and Mani (moon).
New York based contemporary sculptorย Erin Sullivan employsย theย labor-intensive lost-wax process to create exquisite,ย realistic bronzeย interpretations of her organic subject matter.
As Sullivan works on a commission basis, custom dimensionality and finishes may be accommodated.
