Morten Stenbæk, Vinea Sculptural Wall Mounted Console, DK, 2025
We are thrilled to debut Vinea, a monumental sculptural console by self-taught Danish designer Morten Stenbæk. This vine-like piece, standing at a striking 9’6″, gracefully climbs the wall, seamlessly blending the organic with the functional. A bold extension of Stenbæk’s evolving body of work, Vinea embodies a venture into new territory, where form supersedes function, revealing a raw, expressive beauty.
Crafted with the fluidity of Stenbæk’s “eye-to-hand” process, Vinea challenges traditional boundaries of furniture design, inviting a deep, tactile engagement with its textures. Its juxtaposition of polished and steel-brushed surfaces—akin to the raw bark of a tree—imbues the piece with both tension and harmony. The sculptural form suggests a natural growth, as if it were plucked from the organic world itself. Its heavy looped base evokes a tree’s roots and its shelves are reminiscent of branches or leaves. The work is a surreal exploration of nature’s timeless rhythms.
Stenbæk, inspired by the legacy of great masters such as Wendell Castle and Zaha Hadid, channels their sculptural fluidity into his work, which is rooted in nature’s organic forms. His dedication to free-form lamination allows for the manipulation of wood in dynamic, unexpected ways—pushing the material’s inherent potential while maintaining comfort and functionality. The result is an object that speaks both to the intellect and the senses, inviting contemplation of both its design and its craftsmanship.
