In partnership with Mark Eckman, President of Karl Springer LTD, Todd Merrill has curated a selection of Karl Springer’s most iconic designs to be reissued exclusively at Todd Merrill Studio.

Though he based his designs on European classical forms, Karl Springer developed an irreverent and non-doctrinaire idiom of bold proportions, highly exotic finishes, and a sometimes flashy palette that identified him strongly with his American clientele. His work speaks with the confidence and energy of the Disco Decade and now finds new relevance in the world of contemporary design.

In 2016, as the vintage market for Springer’s designs began exceeding the pieces’ original prices, Eckman, an admirer of Merrill’s intuition and experience in the vintage and custom design marketplace, approached the gallery to give it the exclusive right to reissue some of Springer’s classics. Merrill has selected original designs whose glamour and elegant simplicity have withstood the test of time.

Karl Springer LTD continues the legacy of its namesake founder who, throughout the 1960s and 1970s, created custom-made designs with superb craftsmanship and extreme attention to detail. The entire reissued collection is American-made by some of the same artisans who worked with Springer himself.
