Jessica Boubetra & Jean Baptiste Lenglet, Architectures Végétales, FR, 2025

Jessica Boubetra and Jean Baptiste Lenglet’s practices lie at the intersection of the natural world, architectural forms, and cutting-edge digital innovation. As artists and architects, they have developed a distinctive and sensitive approach to ceramic sculpture, blending ancient craftsmanship with parametric design and 3D printing technologies. Her work explores the tension between the organic and the artificial, creating sculptures that evoke both the beauty of natural forms and the precision of digital processes.

Nature, with its intricate structures and patterns, is a central source of inspiration for Boubetra & Lenglet. They draw from the organic shapes of plants, marine organisms, and microscopic life to develop a rich visual vocabulary. Their pieces, often inspired by these natural forms, undergo a process of digital transformation, where they apply algorithms and parametric design principles to reimagine and reinterpret their structures for artistic purposes.

At the heart of Boubetra’s & Lenglet’s work is their pioneering use of high-temperature ceramic glazes. With an expert understanding of glaze chemistry, they have developed a wide range of finishes that elevate their sculptural forms. Their exploration of materiality extends beyond ceramics—combining printed ceramics with blown glass, for example, in their Natures Diffractées series. Here, the organic shapes of marine life are reinterpreted in sculptural and functional objects.

Boubetra’s career reflects a fusion of diverse influences and technical expertise. After training at the Beaux-Arts de Paris and the Paris Malaquais school of architecture, she further refined her craft through a transformative residency at the Tokyo University of Arts, where she studied ceramics in Japan. Her technical process is deeply rooted in her architectural background, blending traditional methods with cutting-edge digital fabrication techniques.
