Born in Germantown, Pennsylvania, Phillip Lloyd Powell (1919-2008) began crafting furniture during his adolescent years.
Powell worked with Paul Evans throughout the 1950s and 1960s, creating some of the most important works of the mid-century studio furniture movement. Powellโs signature carved wood cabinets, consoles, chairs, and dining tables are some of the most sought-after pieces from that era. His sinuous, textural furniture often references natural forms.
