Todd Merrillโs Design Labย is a 9,000-square foot, three-floor homeย built into a hillside at the highest point in Shinnecock Hills. Created in the styles of Horace Gifford and Gwathmey,ย it is a sublime example of Long Island Modernist architecture, offering panoramic ocean and bay views.
The house was gut renovated by Merrill and features an all grey-on-grey color scheme with matte-washed grey reclaimed oak floors and grey French limestone and slate throughout. A curved double kitchen designed by Merrill echoes similar curvesย found throughout the home, featuring most prominently in the center spiral stairwell.
The home serves as a livable museum and is anย ideal setting for Todd Merrill Studioโs twentieth-century vintage and Studio Contemporary collections. Revolving installations of these works, both the gallery’s inventory and Merrill’sย personal collection, take place throughout the year. The Design Lab is available to clients for viewing by appointment.
